I am excited to bring this workshop to you this Spring on Eel Pie Island.
Experiencing your yoga practice as an energy practice rather than a physical one first requires a real felt connection with the energy or subtle body. Let me show you how to make that transition and experience your energy body in practice
The ancient Yogis perceived the body through the lens of the 5 koshas; layers of experience starting with the outermost, gross material layer, anamayakosha and moving inwards through progressively subtle layers. The yogis understood that we are ultimately energetic beings in material form.
The first step of yoga is embodiment; we talk about ‘coming home to the body;’ grounding inour felt sense, feeling and connecting with this embodied self. As we spend most of the time living in our heads, embodiment is essential for us to feel balanced, discover a centre and, through embodiment practice, tether the mind to the here and now.
Yoga is more than embodiment. It is an inward looking practice designed to take us deeper within the layers of our own experience. This is where our journey begins.
In this workshop we will discover the 5 Koshers and explore ways of transitioning our experience in yoga practice from the outer gross layer to the more inner subtle layers of experience; from the physical to the subtle; from the temporal to the eternal; from the lure of of the senses to the freedom of anandamaya kosha the innermost layer or bliss body.
Using a mixed work-board of asana, bioenergetic exercises, mudras, and pranayama, we will explore the subtle body and how to work with it.
What to Expect:
Asana, bioenergetic exercises, mudras, and pranayama.
Yoga nidra, partnerwork, delicious homemade snacks, cacao ceremony and closing circle.
As always these events are be a wonderful opportunity to come together with old friends, make new ones, connect with ourselves and each other and celebrate our uniqueness and community as we open ourselves to the joy and the nourishment of Spring
I hope you will join me this May on Eel Pie Island.
