Why Explore the Chakras During Pregnancy and Birth?
Pregnancy and birth are far more than physical experiences. They touch every aspect of a woman’s being: her sense of safety, relationship with her body, sexuality, personal power, emotional life, ability to express her needs, intuition and spiritual identity.
The ancient chakra system offers a fascinating framework through which to explore these different dimensions of the maternity experience.
Each of the seven chakras represents certain aspects of human experience, and each takes on new significance during pregnancy, birth and the transition to motherhood.
The Maternity Chakras Course uses the map of the chakra system to invite you into a deeper relationship with yourself; your body; your experience, using pregnancy and birth as a powerful opportunity for self-discovery and transformation.
Through the technology of yoga; its movement, breath, sound, meditation and personal enquiry, practitioners ae able to deepen their awareness, recognise and build on their inner resources, support their vulnerable parts and approach birth with greater confidence and connection.
For birth professionals, the chakra system offers an additional lens through which to understand and support the emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and childbirth.

I recently attended Nadia online workshop “Maternity chakras” and I must say it was a truly enlightening experience. Nadia displayed a profound mastery of the subject matter, effortlessly guiding us through the intricate details of each chakra and their significance.
Nadia’s course has been quite a transformative time for me. Through her knowledge, the practical sessions and the support of the group, I’ve been able to do a huge amount of inner work and am approaching the second half of my pregnancy feeling unbelievably empowered. It has also given me the strength, self-belief and confidence to follow my intuition and to speak up when things aren’t quite right. It’s simply amazing how much energy can shift within just a couple of weeks, with the right guidance. So thank you deeply, Nadia, for creating this special and powerful course…not only has enlightened my pregnancy journey, but my own personal journey too – and I’m very excited to share these lessons with my own prenatal students, too! Maternity Chakras Course: Holistic Birth Preparation
The ancient chakra system with its structures of subtle energy pathways and confluence of energy centres has informed yoga practice for millennia It offers us all a truly holistic map to help us know ourselves fully and live freely.
The journey through the chakras is the journey of discovery and healing; travelled many times by yoginis but rarely in pregnancy.
And yet pregnancy is the journey from mystery to manifestation and from instinct to transcendence. Pregnancy is transformational whether you like it or not. The birth event is the most expansive energetic event of our lives. When consciousness is brought to the process, the transformation can be healing, empowering, integrated and stabilised. As the body expands and the yoni opens so does the heart and the mind. Perceiving pregnancy and birth through the lens of the chakras enables deep insight into the multidimensional aspects of the experience and of the potential of yoga practice too.

Maternity Chakras Course — Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous experience of yoga or the chakra system?
No previous knowledge of the chakra system is required, as the course provides a comprehensive introduction to its philosophy, history and practices. However, some previous experience of yoga is necessary to provide a foundation for the embodied practices and teachings explored throughout the course.
Can I take the Maternity Chakras Course while pregnant?
Absolutely! In fact, I particularly encourage women to undertake this journey during pregnancy.
Unlike conventional birth preparation courses, the Maternity Chakras offers a deeply personal and holistic approach to preparing for birth. Through movement, meditation, breathwork and self-enquiry, you will explore your relationship with your changing body, your emotions, your inner resources and the profound transition into motherhood.
Your journey is supported by two personal one-to-one sessions with me, offering space to reflect on your experiences and explore anything that arises along the way.
Is this course suitable for doulas, midwives and other birth professionals?
Absolutely. This course is particularly valuable for birth professionals who recognise pregnancy and birth as holistic experiences, encompassing far more than the physical process.
The chakra system offers a rich framework for understanding and supporting the interconnected physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions of maternity. It also provides a language for exploring some of the less tangible aspects of the birth experience, particularly its energetic and spiritual dimensions.
You will gain practical tools, embodied practices and approaches to enquiry that can enrich your work with women throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
I encourage all professionals to undertake the course experientially, participating fully in the movement, meditation and personal enquiry. By taking the chakra journey yourself, you develop a deeper understanding of how these teachings might support the women in your care.
What will I learn about the seven chakras?
You will explore both the traditional yogic teachings and modern psychological interpretations of the seven chakras, discovering how each relates to the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy, birth and motherhood.
From safety, sexuality and personal power to love, self-expression, intuition and spiritual transformation, you will discover how the chakra system offers a holistic map of the maternity journey.
Through yoga philosophy, movement, bodywork, breathwork, meditation, visualisation and personal enquiry, you will learn practical ways to work with each chakra, deepen your self-awareness and draw upon these teachings as resources during pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Is the course entirely online and self-paced?
The Maternity Chakras is a predominantly online, self-paced course, complemented by two live, one-to-one sessions with me.
Once enrolled, you will receive access to our Teachable learning platform, where all the teaching videos, guided practices, meditations, audio recordings and worksheets are available.
Each chapter includes a teaching session, an embodied practice, a guided meditation and a worksheet for personal reflection and enquiry.
You are encouraged to move through the material at your own pace, allowing time to experience and integrate the teachings. You might choose to spend a week exploring each chakra, or perhaps a month, depending on what unfolds along the way.
There is no pressure to keep up with a group or follow a fixed timetable. This is your personal journey, supported by two individual sessions with me.
Will I receive a certificate on completion?
Yes. All participants receive a certificate of completion.
Birth professionals and yoga teachers undertaking the course as continuing professional development will receive a YogaPro’s accredited certificate recognising 40 hours of CPD/CE training, subject to the relevant accreditation requirements.
How long do I have access to the course?
You will have access to the Maternity Chakras course on the Teachable platform for 12 months from enrolment.
During this time, I encourage you to download the course materials that are available for download, so you can continue to revisit the teachings, practices and reflections long after completing your journey.
How is this different from a traditional antenatal or hypnobirthing course?
The Maternity Chakras offers a uniquely experiential and deeply personal approach to birth preparation.
While traditional antenatal education generally focuses on understanding the practical and physiological aspects of childbirth, and hypnobirthing emphasises relaxation, breathing and mental preparation, the Maternity Chakras takes a broader, holistic approach.
Drawing on the ancient chakra system, yoga philosophy, psychology and embodied practices, the course invites you to explore pregnancy and birth through the lens of your own experience.
You will examine your relationship with your body, your nervous system and its responses, your attachment patterns, your ability to express your needs, your relationship with personal power and authority, and the less conscious aspects of yourself that may emerge during pregnancy and birth.
There is a strong emphasis on embodied practice and inner work, using movement, breathwork, meditation, visualisation and personal enquiry to deepen your awareness and connection with yourself.
Importantly, this is not simply a course about acquiring knowledge. It is an invitation to experience the teachings personally, discovering your own resources, recognising patterns that may no longer serve you and exploring the profound transformation that pregnancy and motherhood can bring.
The two individual sessions with me provide a further opportunity to reflect on your pregnancy experience, explore your discoveries and integrate what emerges throughout your chakra journey.
The course complements traditional antenatal education rather than replacing it, offering an additional dimension of emotional, psychological and spiritual preparation for birth.
