How Yoga & Mindfulness Can Support the VBAC Experience

Join this two-session Yoga & Mindfulness immersion and preparation for VBAC with Three times HBAC, VBAC doula and yoga and Mindfulness teacher Nadia Raafat.

There is much information available about VBAC advocacy, choice-making and your VBAC rights. There is less about how you carry yourself through the challenging experience and the inevitable anxiety, fear and doubt that accompanies the VBAC experience; from making the decision to VBAC, to creating the optimum pathway for your VBAC; to carrying yourself with trust and courage through the nights of your VBAC/HBAC – your experience IS what counts.

On this one day immersion you will learn how to:

  • Unpack and debrief the first birth safely so that you can better understand what happened? Why it happened and thereby learn from it asyou approach your VBAC. We will do this both as discussion and inner guided meditation and reflection process.
  • Learn earn how to work with your scar physically and also mentally and emotionally.
  • Discover key Mindfulness practices and meditations especially adapted for the VBAC experience to cultivate and practice building a relationship of of trust with yourself that is authentic and rooted.
  • Learn Mindfulness practices for being with your difficult emotions, like anxiety, fear and doubt.
  • Work with pain through skilful application of awareness.
  • Explore Beyond 10 Cms and the challenges that arise during the second stage of a VBAC; how to avoid them with good preparation and also how to navigate them should they arise.
  • Learn how to Use Imagination and Will to support your VBAC wishes.
  • Consolidate all the work we have done with a session on constructing your VBAC Birth Plan.

It is my experience that Will and Determination need to be accompanied by strong birth skills and inner resilience and resourcefulness in order to be able to navigate the inevitable challenges that arise whether from the system or the labour.

This workshop series is suitable for VBACs, HBACs, and those birth professionals who want more internal resourcing for their clients.

The VBAC workshop takes place on Sunday 12 January 2025 and runs from 10am-5pm (BST). The session will be recorded and made available to all who book. However live attendance is recommended.

If you have any questions about the VBAC series please email info@nadiaraafat.com

Scholarship prices available for those VBACs and HBACs who want attend but are economically challenged. Please get in touch.

About your guide:

I am an HBAC x 3 plus HBAC and VBAC doula. If I had followed the clinical advice I received and not questioned the recommendations each time, I would not have had my Hbacs. As a doula, I have supported both Vbacs and Hbacs. I know the challenges that you face on your journey to reclamation; it is a most courageous and expansive journey. May it be blessed.
